at98smoke3.jpg (7798 bytes)The United States Army Reserve’s 472d Chemical Battalion    The 472d Chemical Battalion is home to some of the Army Reserve’s finest “Dragon Soldiers” of   the United States Army Chemical Corps. We are also home to some of the Army Reserve’s finest Postal soldiers. The 472d Chemical Battalion has chemical and postal companies located on 7400 South Pulaski Road in Chicago as well as chemical units located in Urbana and Bloomington, Illinois.

The chemical companies in Chicago are HHD 472nd Chemical Battalion, 342nd Chemical Company and the 379th Chemical Company. The Postal companies are the 326th AG Company (postal) and the 331st AG Company (Postal). The 378th Chemical Company is located in Urbana, Illinois, with detachemt at Bloomington, Illinois. The 472d Chemical Battalion offers challenging training on smoke and decontamination operations for individuals interested in joining the Army Reserve Chemical Corps and Judge Advocate Corps. There are openings available for enlisted  at all grade levels as well as commisshoned officers.

In addition, our assigned postal companies provide military postal support while training in the United States and overseas. The battalion has four chemical companies and two postal companies where soldiers can obtain additional job skills, a positive learning environment and assistance with college tuition while training one weekend aCanteen (21458 bytes) month and two weeks a year. The 472d Chemical Battalion’s “Dragon Soldiers” are shown in the accompanying photographs during unit training exercises typical in this battalion.

Mission Statement:   Chemical Battalion will mobilize and deploy by Air, Rail and Sea to the south West Asia Theater of Operations and provide command and control of two the five Chemical Companies in the area of operation.
